DESCRIPTION

Founded in 1970, Douglas College is the largest degree-granting university in British Columbia, Canada, educating about 25,000 students per year. The College has two main campuses in Metro Vancouver (New Westminster and Coquitlam), as well as several smaller training centers in Surrey, Burnaby, and Maple Ridge. With the two main campuses directly on the SkyTrain lines, Douglas is one of the most accessible post-secondary institutions in Metro Vancouver, attracting students from across the region.

Douglas offers the most undergraduate and graduate programs of any university in B.C., and stands out for combining the academic foundations of a university with the professional skills of a university. Each year, nearly 17,000 students (including 4,210 international students from more than 92 countries) take courses for credit at Douglas. Due to the university's strong academic foundation, most of these credit courses transfer to different research universities in B.C. and throughout Canada, providing students with flexible pathways to achieve their academic goals.

Douglas also offers hundreds of high-quality, short-term non-credit courses, programs and workshops to around 8,500 students through Continuing Education and The Training Group, in areas such as business, music, health, perinatal, professional development, industrial training and more.

More than 960 experienced, teaching-focused teachers bring academic rigor and real-world experience to Douglas's classroom. Outside of the classroom, more than 900 employees work together to create a friendly, inspiring, supportive and respectful environment.
